Logo
In order for our artist logo to appear in our music video I had to make it digital. From the logo which I designed on paper I had to scan it into my computer so I am able to edit it on Photoshop to make it look more professional and transparent so it could be used in the beginning frames of our edited music video. We aimed to make it transparent so when we edit it on Adobe After Effects we could add smoke in it or show the set to make it more effective and similar to the set which is going to be shown.
After I scanned it in I opened the image on Photoshop. At first I was going to use the 'Quickmask' tool like I did in AS to cut out the background however I used the 'Magic Eraser' tool as it was more efficient, quicker and easier to use that gets rid of the background in one click. From here I had to use the 'Brush' tool and paint over the letters making sure I re-sized and followed the outline of the logo.
Firstly, I used a bigger sized brush to mark the basic outline of the logo however leaving the edges of the letters until later when I re-size the brush. From here I zoomed in and changed the size of the brush to outline the edges of the logo making sure I had a steady hand so I don't mess up and getting the logo right.
I made sure that any small details I would leave to last as I would need an even smaller brush to reach into the detail, especially the scorpion which would be the hardest part of the logo and some of the splatter marks. After I finished the outline of the text I changed the size of the logo and did just this.
Again I made sure that I did the outline first as it would be easier then to fill in the text at the end with a bigger brush. During this process I did the outline of the scorpion, the splatter marks and any other small details.
I then changed the brush sized and filled in any remaining spaces. To make sure the image the background remains transparent so you can add any background behind it, I had to make sure I saved it as an PNG file as a JPEG wouldn't work. This was the final outcome, and your able to put in in front of any background.

My next problem I tried to get rid of the background and replace it with a black background however when I tried to same with the logo the black background camouflaged the logo as it was covering the transparent background. Again I tried again and this time I was experimenting and came across the 'Dodge Tool' which allowed me to lighten the text instead and replace the background with black which worked. The logo came out this silvery colour which I decided to save because it look really good and could be used for a digipak. I then deleted the text which gave me the transparent background.
This was the finished product, and works the same as the first logo but in reverse.

I repeated the same process with the record label logo as it is important to keep a certain house style and to avoid copyright issues. For the Def Jam logo I made the text transparent to make it consistent.
